High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

Ordered pickup to go. Was told it'd be ready at 7pm, but didn't get my food for another 35 mins. It's a holiday night, so it'll be a little busier than usual. Get the food, get home and start to eat. I ordered a medium done stake, baked potato, mashed potato. Also got a boneless wing app (2 for 20 deal). My steak was rare and super fatty. The baked potato was rotten. At about half before I discovered the big black mold spot. Decided not to eat that or the mashed potatoes... The wings looked okay, but they too were off. Ate one, reached for another and realized that there was a hard, hollow spot on it. This was old, old chicken. Turns out the other pieces were the same. Old nasty wings covered in more sauce. This is the worst experience I've had at this location by far, but I won't be going back. I'm trying not to vomit, but there is a awful taste in my mouth and I'm afraid that the steak was bad too... Holiday night is no excuse to serve rotten, old food to customers. Too late on the vomiting bit...went to take pictures of this and got sick thinking that I ate part of this potato.

Excellent lunch selection, I had the half BLT minus cheese, I'm a purest so no cheese shall grace my blt's. The other half was a half salad w/ranch. Everything was great from the service to the food. I'm usually stuffed after eating lunch, but their portions were on point I left feeling just right.

I always eat at Applebee's so this won't be too creative. The appetizer was great (onion rings) and my steak & potatos were perfect. My only complaint was that I ordered the special 2 drinks for $7 but waiter didn't come back to get me the 2nd glass so I paid $5.99 for my ONE glass of wine. My son ate his regular chicken strips & fries, pretty good.

Disappointed in every way possible. I tried this place on a Sunday night at 8. Not exactly their busiest time. I called to place a pick-up order. No answer. I called again. They put me on hold. 10 minutes passed by. I hung up and (for some reason) ordered online. Their online ordering page SUCKS and I finally got my order placed after 10 minutes. Anyway, after 30 minutes of trying to order, I go to pick up my food. There were TWO hosts at the host stand doing NOTHING....these were the people that were two busy to try to help a customer on the phone. Hmmm...I tell them I have an order placed. It's not ready yet. I wait around for ten minutes (which is ten minutes past the estimated time). I ask if I can at least pay for my food while I wait. I guess I can't because they're so disorganized... ...on top of everything, my damn food was made wrong. and it was cold. Since 5 Guys is right next door and 39th street and Westport are right down the road, I don't see any reason to ever go back.

This is our neighborhood Applebee's and this is where we come when it's late and we've nowhere else to go. The service is hit and miss. We usually get seated promptly but one time we stood and stood and stood. The host was sitting with a group of people drinking and watching TV. We saw that and promptly left. A bag of hamburgers was probably better in this particular case. At any rate, for the most part, the food has been satisfactory. The prices are acceptable the atmosphere is ok. We've been here before to eat and watch sports. The curbside to go is pretty efficient here and I've been known to do that on a number of occasions. But, this place is only ... okay...

Everyone knows what Applebee's chain food is. But this Applebee's stands out in one way. They have a server who previously worked at some fine dining restaurants. His previous training and experience show, especially if you order a bottle of wine. He originally is from Nigeria. He should be somewhere better than Applebee's, but that's where he is now. His name is Dele (pronounced Daylay). He usually works there Thursday and Saturday evenings, and at lunch time on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I ask for him, when I'm there.

This is, hands down, the worst casual dining restaurant in Kansas City. As a general rule, I like Applebee's. I worked at a different location when I was in school, and my best friend is a bartender at another location (I won't say where, but it isn't here) so I'm not an Applebee's critic, by any means. However, after my two most recent dining experiences with Applebee's, I seriously doubt I will ever have anything positive to say about them ever again. Two weeks ago, I placed a to-go order online for myself and some girlfriends. That order included a Cesar salad. When I got home and opened the salad container, I noticed that the croutons were on the salad (I had requested none). As I went about picking them off, I spied a large piece of lettuce that was brown and wilted. I thought that was strange, but whatever; it happens. Then I found another piece. And another. And another. I soon realized all of the lettuce was either wilted or brown. It was the most disgusting salad I had ever seen in my life. So I called the store to see if I could get the amount of the salad refunded to my card. I was on hold for over 15 minutes before a female manager decided she probably should deliver some customer care. I explained the situation and asked if I could have the cost of the salad to my card, she demurred and said she isn't "allowed" to give a refund, but that she could mail me a gift card. Not once did she apologize for the condition of the salad, or make any repair efforts. I was assertive, but not rude, and it was clear she thought I was just trying to scam free food. Which is honestly laughable--my friends and I spent $60, including on some much pricier entrees. The salad was the cheapest thing on there. Yesterday, I decided to try and give them another chance with some friends. We went in during the late afternoon, since we expected them to be dead. They weren't exactly busy, but our server wasn't particularly quick (though I was impressed both by her Dr. Who tattoo and her ability to remember our orders without writing anything down). We waited longer for service than seemed reasonable, given how few diners were actually in, and I noticed several servers just ambling around the bar, watching TV or listening to their iPods. However, the real issue was the food. It was DISGUSTING. We received a flatbread pizza appetizer that was still doughy in the middle, and it was runny cheese with some garlic scrapings. And there was hair in EVERYTHING. I found it in the pizza, in my chicken wrap, and even on my friend's steamed zucchini. Seriously, are hairnets not standard regulation anymore? My friends and I are blonde and redheads, respectively; the hair was black and brown, so it sure as heck didn't come from us. My friends wanted to speak to the manager, but I told them about my experience dealing with 'management' and pointed out that the manager had been coming out of his office only to talk to the bartender before retreating back. He hadn't once asked us whether we enjoyed our meals because he hadn't talked to us at all, and given the lack of attention from any employees, I wouldn't expect a satisfactory resolution. We paid and left, but we're never going back.

I am writing this review bc I'm appalled at the way this restaurant treats the customers. I've stayed at the hotel behind this Applebees for 5 weeks so I've become very familiar, unfortunately, with their business practices. I love the Applebees in Pueblo, Colorado, karaoke, live music and wait staff that is having a good time and excited to be at work. The opposite is true of this Applebees unfortunately. I chose to go here so many times bc it was so convenient but it's been a major disappointment everything. I usually sit at the bar, can these bartenders smile? Or do they hate their job that much? Sad really. My 4th week in, I ordered the fish and chips in which I called this restaurant to let the manager that this meal had given me food poisoning or simply just made me sick . I explained that I was staying at the hotel behind the restaurant and hadn't had this problem in the last month of staying here. The most unprofessional reply Ive ever received, from the manager, Cliff Jones, is no one else has complained about the fish (really?). Well it made me sick!! I asked him if i could have my money back or a portion of it, he said NO! Rachel is the shining star of this restaurant, she should be running this place. She literally would jump through hoops to make a guest happy. She was the only person that works for you in this restaurant you shouldn't fire but instead promote the hell out of!! She takes pride in her work, smiles, conversates, and is quick and efficient, BRAVO girlie!! Also, one last note: this restaurant needs a better ordering manager, I've never been at a restaurant out if soooo many things at once. Applebees, if you want to contact me in regards to this horrible last 5 weeks, please feel free. I worked in the industry for 12 years and this restaurant would greatly surprise me if it were turning a profit. Thanks, Lacey@truequalityconstru…

Came for a drink, straight to the bar. Just saw a hostile manager give evil eyes to her employee. Don't know what's going on here, but you should never show how unhappy you are with your employees. Just for that I wouldn't come here, so many servers with no smiles.

There's only one phrase that can describe Applebee's: "Local Treasure" This place is amazing....it's got all this great local memorabilia on the walls because after all, this is a LOCAL RESTAURANT! This place is the SPOT in the DOTTE for locals to gather with their families. If you're on a date and are looking for an intimate setting, the bar area offers great deals. Sometimes the wife and I are able to get away with dinner for two for under a hundred dollars, but we're not heavy drinkers so your experience may vary.

I can't believe I'm about to say what I'm about to say about Applebee's: the food is good! They have a new menu, and everything I've had is so so tasty. They have options that are lower calories and I am always very happy with everything. The only thing that sucks is the service. The hosts are usually less than intelligent and sometimes the servers aren't too quick.

Why would I go to an Applebee's? To eat good in the neighborhood, of course. That and a gift card. We ended up at Applebee's because we had a gift card. It was Valentine's Day and, really, what could be more special than sharing a meal with your loved one at a massive chain restaurant that in specializes bar appetizers and "steaks"? Pretty much anything else. People watching was epic. We also loved listening to the loud talker in the booth behind us. The guy apparently was a doctor and wanted everyone to know. Funny thing, on this visit, we really had no complaints. The expectation levels were low. We knew where we were going. The food was fine for Applebee's. So, why the one star? Because months later we decided to stop back into Applebee's. Why? We were moving and were kind of gross. We wanted lunch, but wanted to sit down and take an actual break. And the parking lot at this Applebee's is substantial so it made it easy to park the moving truck. We walked in and we were seated. There were a few people in our section, but the place was mainly empty. A few minutes passed. No one had acknowledged us, but we had seen three servers in the area. Two other people were seated nearby. A server went over to them to give them water and start the process of serving them. We still had no water. We just had menus. We continued to wait. And wait ... and wait ... you get the picture. More people continued to be seated and served. But not us. I thought for a moment that maybe it was how we were dressed. And then looked around. That couldn't be the case. The servers clearly thought someone else was covering our table. So, after another couple was seated in a booth directly across from us and had a waitress stopping in on them, we hit our limit. We left. The guy who held to door open on our way out was great though. He kindly acknowledged us. Good show, Applebee's!

Me. Here. NO WAY! Why? GIFT CARD :) Thank you Neil. I had terrible experiences when friends dragged me to this chain in MA. However, this food was better! They have lots of lunch specials. I got an asian salad here that was pretty decent. Lots of leftovers for a second meal :) Cons: It's a smoking restaurant, so even though I sat in non-smoking, I could smell the smoke. Since I'm a non-smoker, I'd prefer to go to a non-smoking one.

This Applebee's can be described in three words: Straight Up Nasty. I refuse to believe that anyone has a burning desire to spend their hard earned dollars on the swill that Applebee's passes off as "delicious casual dining." Parents are merely conditioned to think that such "family friendly" establishments are the only places they can go with their children. So, they end up in a gloomy dining room, sitting on grimy seats, unhappily ordering Wonton Tacos and Provolone Stuffed Meatballs. I can't remember how we ended up eating here, but we endured a smoky, dirty atmosphere and wretched food - only to be handed a hefty bill. Never again.
